The 1701 was the world first PROM that could be reprogrammed. By using an ultra violet light it was possible to erase the data stored.
Early versions without C prefix and grey traces are extremely rare. They
are one of the "most wanted" chips in any collections. Only a few pieces
are known in perfect condition.
